Let's say you've been living in your truth—feeling aligned, gaining traction, & finally witnessing the love, wisdom, and maturity that have always been within you. You're embodying your higher self.

But then, something traumatic happens. Something that shakes your foundation.

Suddenly, you feel disconnected, distracted, foggy, and out of alignment with who you know yourself to be.

This is what a root chakra imbalance can feel like. And whether the imbalance is energetic, emotional, or the result of buying into a distorted belief—when it hits, it can send us straight into survival mode.

The Survival Switch

When the root chakra is disrupted, we don't feel safe. So we panic. We switch into survival mode—fight, flight, freeze.

This "switch" can turn us into someone we don't recognize. And for many, that switch stays on for years—especially if the trauma isn't addressed or processed.

In this state, we don't just feel off—we start seeing the world through a lens of fear. And if we begin to believe what we're seeing from that place, we slowly start handing over our power.

Bit by bit.

The Slow Pull Away from Self

From trauma, false beliefs are often born. Beliefs that disconnect you from your truth and your belief in your divine protection.

You may begin to attract others who resonate with these same distorted beliefs. Before long, you may feel like a stranger to yourself—especially if you weren't solid in your identity to begin with.

This is where the real healing begins.

This is your opportunity to remember.

Coming Home After the Fall

I'm speaking especially to those who've experienced trauma later in life—whether it was a car accident, an abusive relationship, or repeating a toxic pattern you thought you'd healed from.

In these moments, fear becomes louder than your soul. You stop operating from essence and instead move from protection, control, and overthinking.

But your essence hasn't gone anywhere.

Love is still within you.

Healing begins when you start acting in alignment with who you truly are—even if the trauma hasn't been fully processed yet.

Sometimes the most powerful first step is remembering how you showed up before the trauma. Not to bypass the pain, but to use that memory as a compass to help guide you back.

Let the Trauma Build You, Not Belittle You

Trauma will try to rewrite your story.

But you get to choose what happens next.

Start small:

  • Become aware of how you're showing up.

  • Ask yourself: Are my responses rooted in fear? Are my actions aligned with love?

  • Even if you can't feel it yet—start moving like the person you remember yourself to be.

Create certainty in the clouds.

Let your voice rise through the noise.

You can return to yourself—no matter how far it feels you've drifted.

How Energy Work Can Help

If you're feeling disconnected, a Trauma Recovery Reiki session can offer powerful support. These sessions don't just address the root chakra—they help you locate and release energetic blocks that have formed in response to trauma.

Pairing Reiki with intuitive tarot allows us to dive deeper—uncovering the subconscious beliefs, thought loops, and emotional leaks that are quietly draining your power.

If you are unsure which service is best for your current season, let's connect. I offer discovery calls so we can explore what support would be most aligned for your healing.
